What to Expect for Spring Semester 2021

At long last, we can say goodbye and good riddance to 2020. Finally, 2021 is  here!  At this moment in time, many students are preparing for spring semester 2021. Therefore, this week’s blog is dedicated to all of those in the collegiate world who may be wondering  what to expect from this coming term.

As anticipated, many campuses will emulate the plan they had for fall semester 2020, while also incorporating  some additional modifications based on what they’ve learned over the course of the last semester(s?). As noted, all plans are dependent upon the status of COVID-19 (and therefore subject to change) but the majority of campuses will continue to operate on a hybrid model of education – offering both in-person instruction and remote learning to students.

As for spring break, each university is taking their own unique approach to the vacation. Some universities will continue to have it, while others will be taking different approaches. For example, some schools will be  canceling spring break altogether. choosing instead to compensate their students by splitting up the time  and offering days off that will be sprinkled sporadically throughout the calendar.. Despite the various implementations, all campuses strongly discourage traveling. If traveling is in the cards and absolutely unavoidable, these students will need to remain in required self-isolation for 14-days when they return to campus. This is done in order to prevent the spread of this virus and therefore protect the safety of all students and staff members.

Let’s hope the COVID-19 vaccine will be made available to the general public this year, but let us also remember how crucial it is that we continue practicing good health measures such as social distancing, washing hands, and wearing a mask.
