Things to do with friends on valentines day

While Valentine’s day is usually associated with romantic love and relationships, that doesn’t mean we can’t flip the script and spend this holiday celebrating our friends!

For the Ladies: “Galentine’s Day”

This unofficial holiday is great in so many ways – namely, the fact that it was a concept created/written by a man for TV’s hilarious character Leslie Knope.

The only rule is, there are no rules. This day can be celebrated however you want, whether you are single or taken. Be it a girls night out or a girls night in, Galentine’s day is all about showing appreciation for your favorite female friends.

For the Fellas:

From a cursory Googling, there is something called “Malentines Day.” Urban Dictionary definitions are disappointing to say the least, but I digress. For all of the guys out there wanting to celebrate a day with their male friends, I propose you create your own version of Valentines Day on the day of your choosing.

  • Go to a game: If you’re into sports, find a great game to go to with your buddies.
  • Play a game: If gaming is your thing, host a party with your pals. Or, you could go old school and explore some local arcades.

For the Coeds:

For continuity sake, lets call this one “Palentine’s Day.” For all of you who want to celebrate your friendship regardless of their gender(s), there are plenty of things you can do to make the day unforgettable.

  • Music Festival: Check out a cool concert with your compadres. If you and your friends have the same taste in music, the festivities are sure to be special.
  • See a movie: Whether you want to go see something new at the theaters or kick it at home binge-watching classic favorites – you can’t go wrong spending your day this way!

The bottom line:

Don’t be afraid to try something new this valentines day. You may find yourself creating terrific traditions!
