College Move In Day: What to Expect and How to Prepare
Move in day is finally here.
After months of planning, shopping, packing, and counting down the days, it’s time to step onto campus and begin one of the most exciting chapters of your college journey. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of excitement, anticipation, and a few nerves. The good news is that a little preparation can make the day much smoother.
Here are a few tips to help you navigate move in day with confidence.
Arrive during your assigned move in time
Most colleges assign students a specific move in window to help keep the process organized. Staggering arrival times helps reduce traffic, minimizes long lines, and gives residence hall staff enough time to assist students as they check in.

Bring a helping hand
If possible, bring family members or friends who can help with the move.
Having extra hands allows everyone to divide responsibilities instead of trying to do everything yourself. While one person helps unload the vehicle, another can assist with check in or carry items to your room.

Find your room before unloading everything
Before carrying boxes, bins, and furniture across campus, take a few minutes to locate your residence hall and room.
